Intuition Demystified

Let’s unravel the magic behind intuitive insight!

Intuition is like understanding a meme without reading the caption – you get it. In a fancier way of saying it, intuition is the innate capacity to comprehend something without requiring deliberate reasoning; it goes beyond conscious thought.

It’s important to note a divergence between conventional science and spiritual sages. Over the past decade, mainstream science has strapped on its adventure boots and taken intuition for a spin in the lab to understand its nature and to learn how to use it deliberately via scientific practices. As a result, science attributes subconscious phenomena to the mind, while spiritual instructors over millennia have attributed it to the heart; science plays with flesh and bones, while spiritual teachers team up with the energy.

We’ll play with energy here since you’re not just a bag of cells.

You see, human existence extends beyond mere physicality, and involves energy to grasp the heart’s or soul’s perspective.

Eva Fanari

Our body, a living wonder with about 40 trillion cells, is complemented by an energy field that envelops it, stretching from a few feet up to six feet around the body. For great spiritual teachers like Buddha, this field might expand to hundreds of feet. This field becomes denser in proximity to the body.

Thus, we are multifaceted entities, blending physical and energetic aspects. Our energy field perpetually chats with its surroundings and other energy fields, swapping info like trading goods. It operates not just within mechanical laws but also on a quantum level.

When external energy is absorbed, it journeys through successive layers, ultimately touching down at the “command center” situated at the heart’s core. This center is a sensory and reasoning organ containing neural elements (about 40 000 neurons) that enable analysis. It processes and packages conclusions spilling the beans to the brain. This process can take anywhere from a fraction of a second to up to 8 seconds.

Significantly, the human heart receives information up to seconds before the brain does, as suggested by the HeartMath Institute.

While mainstream science often fast-forwards to the second step: the mind and its thoughts, it’s essential to linger in the first step and learn to recognize the heart’s messages.

Spot the Difference: Intuition vs Mind-Games

In the Western world, we are trained to trust and rely on our minds and thoughts from early on. So how do we know that the information in our brain is of intuitive impulse and not just the mind’s attempt to interpret or create answers out of fear?

Here are seven signs of your intuition:

1.    Emotional Neutrality: Intuition remains emotionally neutral. While we are conditioned to associate emotions with intuition’s validity, emotions are not always reliable indicators, and they’ll play tricks on you. Emotions are buddies with thoughts, leading to inaccuracies. Consider instances where emotional triggers shaped your perceptions, which later proved wrong. However, emotions can develop once intuition is received. But initially, the spark of intuition is devoid of emotion. Subsequent emotional responses may emerge due to the ego’s or your mind’s attempt to analyze, criticize, judge, and interpret. So watch out!

2.    Non-Verbal Guidance: The initial intuitive spark lacks verbalization because it emanates from the wordless heart. It’s a silent ninja! When communicated to the brain, it eventually translates into thoughts, words (and emotions). Distinguishing genuine intuition requires recognizing its non-verbal nature.

3.    Physiological Changes: Since intuition is the heart’s party, the most typical change happens to the heart: changes in heartbeat rhythm, futters, or slowing, accompanied by a discernible energy shift – a phenomenon confirmed by science and correlated with higher sensitivity to bodily signals. Intuition can also create a momentary change in senses: enhanced vision, hearing, smelling, etc. For example, hearing for a moment a conversation across the office that you normally wouldn’t hear.

4.    Lack of Rational Justifications: Intuition does not need exhaustive mental explanations. Individuals might respond without a concrete rationale when asked about intuitive decisions, attributing it to a sense of knowing. The knowing comes with peace and the realization that it’s precisely the next logical step. Explaining, defending, or seeking approval or permission is unnecessary.

5.    Quantum In Nature: Intuition operates incrementally without complex step-by-step plans. It’s not a proposal for the next It provides snippets of steps but a post-it note with a single word. It’s never verbose, lengthy, or defensive. It will give only the next step to take: this approach, which may appear cryptic, safeguards against the ego’s tendency to devise intricate schemes.

6.    Self-Focused Guidance: Intuition pertains exclusively to personal insights, offering instructions relevant to the individual. It’s all about you! No bossing others around and passing judgments. Remember, intuition is NEVER judgmental, i.e., “I could tell that this person is a jerk” is not of intuition but the mind’s interpretation of “your energy is not in alignment.” “Step closer” or “Move on,” it whispers.

7.    Timely Arrival: Intuition frequently emerges as the questions are asked. When communicating with your heart space through altered states of mind and meditation, the answer arrives in a short, clear, and un-emotional way as you are posing a question. Intuitive energy already recognizes the question’s energy and responds. You don’t even need to finish it. It’s like texting with your bestie – instant reply, no buffering or punctuation.

Understanding intuition involves recognizing its non-emotional genesis, grasping its wordless nature, noting physiological shifts, acknowledging its non-linear function, and realizing its self-centered focus. Phew!

From heartbeats to brainwaves, energy fields to cosmic whispers – embrace the experience!
